Mars Petcare Inc. has voluntarily recalled two lots of its Pedigree Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor Wet Dog Food due to concerns it may contain metal or plastic.

Sold in 13.2 ounce cans, the lot codes are 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC.

The possible metal and plastic contamination poses such threats as blockage of the gastrointestinal tract, choking, and lacerations. However, no pet owners have yet reported any injuries or illness.

Mars advises pet parents to contact their vet if they have fed the affected product to their dog and are concerned about their dog’s wellbeing.

Consumers who have purchased the two impacted lots should dispose of them.

To receive a replacement, pet parents can contact Pedigree at 1-800-525-5273 during normal business hours (Central Standard Time). Find the latest information on the recall on the official websites of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Pedigree.com.
