Revival Animal Health has voluntarily recalled several of its canine and goat milk replacers, including Breeder’s Edge and Shelter’s Choice brands due to inconsistent, either low or elevated, levels of Vitamin D.

The recalled products were sold online and in retail pet stores throughout the United States in packaging that ranged in size from 12 ounces to 20 pounds. For a full list of the recalled products, including the UPC codes and Best By dates, visit the company announcement on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website: https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/revival-animal-health-llc-voluntarily-recalls-canine-and-gm-milk-replacers-due-low-or-elevated.

Dog parents should immediately stop giving their dogs the milk replacer affected by the recall.

Symptoms that a dog has ingested elevated levels of Vitamin D may include appetite loss, diarrhea, lethargy, vomiting, weakness, and weight loss. Puppies who have had low levels of Vitamin D for several weeks, on the other hand, may exhibit a variety of symptoms that include bone deformity, lethargy, painful and swollen joints, and weakness.

Revival Animal Health advises pet parents whose dogs are displaying symptoms after consuming the affected product to contact their veterinarian.
