Dog license fees in Pennsylvania are set to increase for 2026 with the annual cost rising from $8.70 to $10.80 for most dog parents and from $6.70 to $8.80 for seniors and those with disabilities.
Dogs with a microchip or a permanent tattoo are eligible for a lifetime license for $52.80. A discounted lifetime fee of $36.80 is available for qualified seniors and individuals with disabilities. An additional fee increase is expected in 2027.
Pennsylvania law states that all dogs must be licensed. Failure to obtain a dog license may result in a fine of up to $500 and related court costs. Annual licenses are valid from Jan. 1 through Dec 31. Licenses typically go on sale at the beginning of December each year, and the fee .
