Life can be pretty stressful, but one surefire way to ease that tension is to spend time with animals, whether our own pets or those at popular destinations like these eight cat cafes in Pennsylvania. Even if you’re not planning to adopt, you’ll quickly discover just how relaxing it is to socialize with the adoptable kitties and other cat lovers while catching up on your reading, getting a little work done, or just chilling.

1. Treetops Kitty Café & Animal Rescue – Kennett Square

Sip a complimentary cup of coffee as you sit back, relax, and get to know the adoptable kitties at Treetops Kitty Café & Animal Rescue. Although it’s not a full-service café, Treetops Kitty Café offers complimentary tea and coffee and, for a donation, you can also enjoy a soft drink.  Don’t worry if you’re not planning to adopt. The cat café in Kennett Square welcomes guests to hang out and socialize with the cats and each other.

Before you head over, you must make a reservation. Both 30-minute and hour-long visits are available. Children must be at least five years old to visit the café. Reserve your visit online.

Address: 305 W State St, Kennett Square, PA 19348

2. Whisker Wonderland – Bellevue

Close the door on the fast pace and stress of daily life when you visit Whisker Wonderland, a cozy spot where you can hang out and play with adoptable kitties, do a little bit of work, or simply relax. Although a lounge (no food or drink) rather than a café, Whisker Wonderland offers an idyllic opportunity to unplug and enjoy the colorful murals by local artists Shane Pilster and Max Gonzales (and hang out with the cats, of course). The lounge has several cat rooms, including one for kittens, and a boutique.

Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged. You can reserve your time and pay the per-hour fee ($15 an hour as of March 2026) online.  Walks-in are welcome if the lounge is not at capacity at the time you visit.

Address: 51 N Balph Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15202

Feel right at home in the Cat Den, designed like a living room, where adoptable kitties relax, play, and socialize with visitors and each other. Purrfect Mugs Cat Café is the temporary home of adoptable cats from Whiskers World Inc. and welcomes guests to spend time with the furry residents, check out the gift shop, and relax with a drink and a snack. The cat café sells a variety of drinks, including coffee and tea, as well as cookies, muffins, and other prepackaged goodies.

A maximum of 12 guests are permitted in the Cat Den at one time. Reservations are strongly suggested. You can book your 50-minute session, which costs $10, on the Purrfect Mugs Cat Café website and sign the required waiver. Walk-ins are accommodated if space is available. Reservations are not required if you just want to visit the gift shop and grab a bite and a drink.

Address: 1325 N River St Suite 102A, Plains, PA 18702

4. Coal Cats Café – Tamaqua

Make new furry friends, adoptable cats from Starting Over Animal Rescue, in the Cat Den at Coal Cats Café. As many as 12 cats live in the Cat Den at a time, so sit back, relax, and get to know the temporary residents. Sessions are 45 minutes and offer a unique way to relax, even if you’re not planning to adopt. Grab a coffee or a packaged snack from the café, too.

Guests to the Cat Den at Coal Cats Café must be at least nine years old. Reserve your session, which costs $10, on the Coal Cats Café website. Reservations are not necessary if you just want to grab a drink without going into the Cat Den. Walk-ins to the Cat Den are welcome if space is available.

Address: 209 W Broad St, Tamaqua, PA 18252

5. The Scratching Post Cat Café – Lewisburg

Pack a snack or grab a bite to eat from a nearby restaurant and bring it for your visit with the kitties at The Scratching Post Cat Café in Lewisburg. (The café does not sell food and drink.) The cat café offers a relaxing vibe and WiFi, so you can kick back, catch up on work, chat with other guests, and get to know the adoptable kitties from Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance Inc.

Guests must be at least five years old to visit the Scratching Post Cat Cafe. A signed waiver is required for all guests, and there is an entrance fee of $6.

Address: 230 Market St #1, Lewisburg, PA 17837

Enjoy an hour of relaxation as you socialize with adoptable kitties at Cats in Bloom, where guests must be at least five years old. While the café doesn’t serve food or drink, you can bring your own from home or a local restaurant as long as you don’t share with the cats.

Even if you’re not planning to adopt, make new furry friends, snap photos (no flash), and play with the temporary resident kitties. Before visiting Cats in Bloom, though, make sure you read the rules so you know what to expect.

When you arrive at Cats in Bloom, you must pay $5 for an hour visit and sign a waiver.

Address: 102 W Main St, Bloomsburg, PA 17815

7. Purrista Cat Café – Erie

Slip off your shoes before entering the Purrista Cat Café’s cat lounge, where you’ll be greeted by and hang out with adoptable cats from Because You Care, Inc.  The café and cat lounge are separated by a glass partition so, even if you don’t feel like hanging out with the cats, you can enjoy a drink and a snack in the café.

Half hour and hour visits to the cat lounge are available. Making online reservations is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability. (Reservations are not required for the café.) Children must be at least seven years old to go in the cat lounge, but there is no age restriction in the café itself.

Address: 30 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16501

8. LanCATster Cat Café – Lancaster

Socialize with adoptable cats at LanCATster Cat Café, the first cat café in Lancaster, where you might just meet your new best friend. Kitties at LanCATster Cat Café are adoptable through Columbia Animal Shelter.

The cat café serves a variety of drinks, including coffee and tea, and such pastries as cookies, scones, and brownies. Enjoy a drink and a snack while you’re hanging out with the cats, but say no when they beg for a bite. You can also eat in the café itself.

You must make an online reservation for a 50-minute session to hang out with the kitties in the cat space, and guests must be at least seven years old. Reservations are not required to visit the café.

Address: 222 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602
